The climate of Fayzabad (Afghanistan)
Fayzabad, also known as Feyzabad is located in the north eastern part of Afghanistan in the Badakhshan province. The city is situated on the right bank of the Kokcha River. This river is famous for the semiprecious stones that are mined here. This Lapis Lazuli has a beautiful azure blue color. The city used to be very remote but ever since a highway was built access to the city was improved. This also has had a positive influence on the economic climate of the city.
Because of its northern location it is much colder here than in the southern parts of the country. Especially during the winter subzero temperatures are not uncommon. During the summer temperatures are just above 30 degrees Celsius. These temperatures are much more bearable than temperatures in other parts of the country. Quite an amount of rain falls here, especially during the winter months.
