The climate of Zaranj (Afghanistan)
Zaranj or Zarang is a medium-sized city in the south western part of Afghanistan in the Nimruz province of which it also is the capital. Zaranj is located on the Iranian border. The city of Milak is located on the other side of the border. Because of its location on the border Zaranj has become an important trading city. It may even be the most important trading post of the country. The recently built highway that connects India with Iran also contributed to this.
Zaranj has a warm desert climate characterized by extreme drought and high average temperatures. During the summer temperatures above 50 degrees are not uncommon. Winters are quite cold. Subzero temperatures are not uncommon during the night. The rain that falls usually falls during the winter.
