The climate of Tasmania (Australia)
Tasmania is the small island off the south eastern coast of Australia. It has a moderate sea climate. It has a cool temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Tasmania is a very green island. It has a large number of national parks and beautiful forests. The number of people that live on the island is small which makes it a very peaceful island. Not a lot of tourists visit this island. However, Tasmania is very charming. Tasmania offers beautiful walks and many charming colonial villages can be visited. Many vineyards also can be found in which you can enjoy the crops. The best time to visit Tasmania is either during its spring or during its summer. This is because autumn and winter can get cold. During the autumn the sea wind can cause for storms and heavy rain fall. During the winter temperatures are 13 degrees Celsius on average. In the higher regions subzero temperatures are not uncommon. Tasmania was named after its famous Dutch discoverer Abel Tasman.

The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
