The climate of Baku (Azerbaijan)
Baku (or Baki) is the capital of Azerbaijan and has a population of about 1 million. The city is situated on the Caspian Sea; because of this it is the industrial and economic center of the country. It also is an important port and a logistic junction. Baku has a warm steppe climate (type Bsh according to the Köppen climate classification) with warm summers and mild winters. However, subzero temperatures are not uncommon when a cold current comes from Siberia. With an annual precipitation figure of only 210 millimeters on average Baku is a dry city. October, November and December are the wettest months with only 25-31 millimeters of rain. During the warm and sometimes hot summer months rainfall is rare. July only has one rainy day on average with a precipitation figure of only 2 millimeters. With more than 2,200 annual hours of sunshine and fewer than 50 rainy days Baku is a dry and sunny destination.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
