The climate of Gaborone (Botswana)
Gaborone is the capital of Botswana. The city is located in the south-eastern part of Botswana at approximately 15 kilometers from the border with South Africa. This place has been inhabited since the early 19th century. The population started to grow at the end of the 20th century. From 4,000 during the 1960s to 138,000 in 1992. Right now the city has about a quarter of a million inhabitants. Gaborone has a warm steppe climate (type BSh according to the Köppen climate classification) with warm summers and very mild and dry winters. From June till August little to no rain falls. During the wettest months about 100 millimeters of rain per month can be expected. Gaborone gets about 526 millimeters of annual rain.
