The climate of Campinas (Brazil)
Campinas is a city in the state of Sao Paulo located in the south eastern part of Brazil. Campinas and its suburbs have more than 3 million residents in total. Campinas is situated on a plateau in the Mantiqueira mountain range. Campinas is the capital of the Campinas province which mainly consists of tropical rainforest. Campinas has a tropical climate characterized by sunny and warm days, more than 200 per year. Because of its situation temperatures are tempered by cool winds. Because of its situation there is little air pollution and smog here; local airports almost never have to close because of bad weather. Because of regular rainfall the land is very fertile; crops can be harvested three times a year, each year. The rainy season is from the second part of October till the second part of May with a peak in rainfall in December, January and February. The dry season is from the second part of May till the second part of September. In the region surrounding Campinas, in the vicinity of the federal state of Minas Gerais several cities are located that enjoy a mild mountain climate: Sierra Negra, Socorro, Lindóia and Águas de Lindóia.
