The climate of Porto Seguro (Brazil)
Porto Seguro is located in the south eastern part of Brazil in the federal state of Bahia in the north easterly region. Porto Seguro means safe port and is the oldest city in Brazil. The city was founded by Pedro Álvares Cabral who was the first westerner to set foot on land here. Porto Seguro is a popular tourist destination. Most of the tourists travel here to enjoy the 90 kilometers of beach. The historic city center, the Cidade Alta is also well worth visiting. In the vicinity of the city several national parks can be found; both on land and under water.
Porto Seguro has a tropical savannah climate with a distinct dry and wet period. The rainy period is from October till April. However, during May heavy showers are not uncommon. June, July and August are the best months to travel here; temperatures are pleasant then and there is little rainfall. During the local summer it may get muggy because of high temperatures in combination with high precipitation figures.

More climate information

The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
