The climate of Concepción (Chile)
Concepción is one of the largest inhabited centers of Chile. The town was founded by the Spanish in the 16th century. Close to the former border with the Indians. Because Concepción lies on a fault plane earthquakes are not uncommon in the town. In the last century the town was badly struck twice and the latest earthquake that reduced the town to ruins was in 2010. Concepción has a moderate mediterranean climate. The mild winters and agreeably warm summers make it a very nice place to stay. Here most rain falls in the spring. (Mind you: the seasons are reversed). The summers are practically dry and sunny. The near-by sea brings a cooling breeze and prevents it from getting too warm.
