The climate of Kashi (China)
Kashi or Kashgar is located in the western part of China. Kashi is a vibrant city steeped in Uyghur culture. On the Sunday market in the center beautiful stalls can be found in which all kinds of Uyghur products can be bought. There are also several stalls offering all kinds of exotic dishes. Besides several markets and bazaars you can visit a large mosque. The Id Kah mosque is the largest in China. A large population of Muslims live in this region. Kashi has a cold desert climate; the city is one of the driest places on earth. Although it is extremely cold here during the winter snowfall is uncommon because of the drought. Differences in temperatures between summer and winter are very large, about 30 degrees Celsius. It hardly ever rains in Kashi.
