The climate of Isla de San Andres (Colombia)
Isla de San Andres is the main island of the San Andres archipelago which is located off the coast of Columbia in the Caribbean Sea. There was a long fight between Nicaragua and Columbia about the claim on the island group. Even the United States of America claimed ownership at one time. Since 1928 the archipelago is officially Columbian. The island is home to many unique animal and plant species. Because of this it is a Unesco Biosphere Reserve. This also applies to the surrounding waters and coral. The island offers many beautiful beaches and bays. Geysers can even be found on the island. San Andres has a tropical climate. Temperatures are high all year round. However, most heat is tempered by the ever blowing trade winds. San Andres has two rainy periods: from September until December and from May until June. During the winter (November and December) there is a risk of tropical storms.
