The climate of Ouesso (Congo)
Ouesso is the capital of the Ouesso district and the most important city in the Sangha region. The city is located in the northern part of the Republic of Congo on the banks of the Sangha River and is one of the busiest ports on the river. There is a lot of forestry in the surroundings of Ouesso, from the port the wood is transported to other parts of the country. This is also why the city has a direct ferry connection with the capital Brazzaville. Ouesso also has its own airport. The city is surrounded by rainforests. To protect wildlife from the emerging wood industry National Park Nouabalé Ndoki was established here in 1993. Among the animals that live in this park are: elephants, gorillas, bonobos and several other monkey species. There are no roads or buildings in the park. Whoever wants to visit the park can only do so under the supervision of a guide. There are several organizations that offer trips of one or several days. Ouesso has a tropical monsoon climate with two distinct dry periods. The first period is in July, the second period is from December till February. However, this does not mean there is no precipitation during these periods. Temperatures are constant all year round. However, temperatures slightly rise when a rainy period starts.
