The climate of Korcula (Croatia)
The island of Korcula with its city of the same name is the largest island of Croatia and is situated on the Makarska Riviera. The biggest attraction on the island is its beautiful scenery. The island is densely forested; its coast mainly consists of caves and bays with beautiful clear water. The Mediterranean climate is responsible for muggy summers and mild winters. Because of the large amounts of rain that fall from October till April the island remains very green. Korcula is also known as the birth place of Marco Polo, who was actually from Venice. However, during that period Korcula was part of Venice so he can be seen as a Croatian. On 29 June the traditional Moreska is danced here.
