The climate of Camagüey (Cuba)
Camagüey is the third largest city in Cuba and the capital of the Camagüey province. Camagüey has a beautiful city centre with many colonial buildings. Camagüey is packed with Tinajones which are stone water tanks that catch the rain which can be used in dry periods. The city centre is so complex that it was nicknamed ‘The Maze’.
Camagüey has a tropical savannah climate. During the summer months Camagüey has a rainy season. Most of the rain falls during the months of May and June. During the summer months temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius on average. Winters are a little colder with temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius on average. Winter is the best time to visit Camagüey because rainfall is considerably less during this period.
