The climate of Kyrenia (Cyprus)
Kyrenia is located on the north coast of Cyprus on the Mediterranean Sea in the Kyrenia district. The harbour is dominated by the impressive Kyrenia castle. Off the coast a ship dating back to the 4th century has been salvaged. The image of this ship can be found on Cypriot coins. Just outside the city in the hills the beautiful Bellapais Abbey can be found. Kyrenia has a warm Mediterranean climate and is among the warmest coastal places in Europe. Because of its situation on the leeward side there is little influence from the wind causing temperatures to easily rise. During the summer it may be very hot. From April till October precipitation figures are extremely low in Kyrenia.
