The climate of Larnaca (Cyprus)
Larnaca is an ancient city that was founded more than 3,000 years ago.
Throughout the centuries it has also been known as Kition and Citium.
The city is popular because of its wide beaches which are quite rare
in Cyprus. The most popular tourist attraction in Larnaca is the
Finikoudes promenade. Larnaca has a Mediterranean climate with long
and dry summers and mild winters with precipitation on a regular
basis. During the summer temperatures rapidly rise above 30 degrees
Celsius. Winters are milder and much wetter than summers. Because of
the influence of the Mediterranean Sea extremes in weather are
uncommon. The Mediterranean Sea also causes temperatures to be 1-2
degrees Celsius lower here than in the interior.
