The climate of Sakkara (Egypt)
Sakkara is located in the middle of the desert in the vicinity of Memphis. Sakkara is the site with the oldest pyramids in Egyptian history; Pharaoh Djoser’s pyramid. This Pharaoh was one of the first pharaoh’s that ordered a pyramid to be built as a final resting place. This pyramid has a typical shape and has wide steps which rise up to form a triangular shape. Later on 16 other pharaohs had their tombs built on this site. Sakkara has a desert climate. During the day temperatures can be warm to hot. However, temperatures may drop up to 20 degrees at night. Warm winds and sand storms may occur during spring because of the rising temperatures. During these storms temperatures may rise to unpleasant levels. Rainfall is very rare in Sakkara and hardly ever occurs.
