The climate of Siwa Oasis (Egypt)
Siwa Oasis is located in the western part of Egypt in the middle of the desert. (Alexandria is a daytrip away). This place is very remote en largely populated by Berbers. For centuries this city was isolated from the outside world. In the vicinity of the city several ancient treasures and temple complexes can be found. The most important temple is situated in the centre of the oasis: the Temple of the Oracle. The temple was built by Alexander the Great who was told by the oracle that he was the son of Amon-Re. The Siwa Oasis has a fairytale-like character and is a very unique destination in the middle of the desert. The Siwa Oasis has a desert climate. The presence of water and vegetation are responsible for a more pleasant feel. However, summers are warm and dry. Hardly any rain falls during the year. During the night temperatures may drop up to 20 degrees Celsius.
