The climate of Santa Ana (El Salvador)
Santa Ana is the third biggest town in El Salvador. The town is an important tourist attraction and an important centre for the coffee industry. Although most historic sites are remainders of the old colonists there are still also some remnants of the original inhabitants to be found. They inhabited this region already some 1200 years BC.
Santa Ana has a tropical savannah climate. In this climate there is a clear distinction between a dry and a rainy period. Most rain falls in the summer months. It may pour with rain then in short heavy showers. In the winter months it is much drier and there is at least one month with a total amount of precipitation of less than 60 mm. The average monthly temperature does not drop below 18 degrees throughout the year.
