The climate of Dover (England)
Dover is known as a ferry port. For most people this is their first introduction to England. On a clear day the famous white cliffs can already be seen from the ferry; sometimes you can even spot them from France. Besides the white cliffs Dover Castle, which was built on the rocks is well worth visiting. Not only during the Middle Ages was it important; it also played an important role in defending the country during WWII. The city of Dover itself is not very interesting. However, it has beautiful surroundings and it is worth making a stopover here on your way from and to the ferry.
Dover has a sea climate, which isn’t surprising with the sea nearby. Because of this fog is not uncommon, which is too bad because the cliffs cannot always be seen. During the winter temperatures are not too low. Dover gets few frosty days. Summers are not too warm; a constant wind blows here. This makes it feel a little colder.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
