The climate of Salisbury (England)
Salisbury is an old city in the county of Wiltshire. Salisbury is known
for its beautiful Gothic cathedral. It is very nice to walk through
the surrounding streets. Stonehenge is in the vicinity. This
mysterious circle of stones has been explained in various ways. It
could be some sort of calendar, a burial ground or a place for sun
worship. Scholars still disagree. Fact is that during the solstice,
which is the longest day of the year and during eclipses many pagan
sun-worshippers come here to perform their rituals. Salisbury’s
surroundings are truly beautiful. Wild horses and cows freely roam the
New Forest.
Salisbury has a moderate sea climate. Characteristic of this type of
climate are moderate temperatures both during summer and winter. Rain
falls all year round. Most rain falls in the form of short lived
periods of drizzle. During the winter temperatures are around 5
degrees Celsius on average. During some winter days subzero
temperatures can be recorded. It only snows a few days a year.
