The climate of Nice (France)
The mondain seaside resort of Nice is, with its frequently visited airport, one of the most important places of France. From the 19th century on Nice is the most important seaside resort on the Cote d’Azur. The splendid place particularly attracted the European aristocracy. The subtropical vegetation and the beautiful angel bay made a fine decor for all the luxurious hotels. Here you can still find splendid villas and expensive hotels where the rich spend their holidays, such as for instance the Grand Hotel Negresco. There is also a number of famous museums such as Musée Chagall, Musée Matisse and the Musée d’Art Moderne and d”Art Contemporain. Because of the mediterranean climate and the large amount of sunshine hours in the summer Nice airport is sometimes also called the gate to the sun. Especially in the spring, when in the northern part of Europe the number of sunny days is still rather scarce the sun often shines already abundantly here. Really agreeable temperatures of 20 degrees and more are reached already regularly in April, but especially from half of May this is the case practically every day.
