The climate of Duisburg (Germany)
Duisburg is a large city located centrally in the western part of the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia. The city is located on the spot where the Ruhr and the Rhine flow into each other. Duisburg is an industrial city which flourished after WWII because of its coal mines and iron and steel industries. The last coal mine closed in 2008. In Duisburg North Landscape Park which is a former blast furnace complex a large amusement park is situated. Here you can go rock climbing or scuba diving in an old gas tank. Duisburg itself also offers several attractions such as the Salvador Church, the Duisburg Zoo, the Lehmbruck Museum the Cubus Kunsthalle (art gallery) and the Jewish civic center. Duisburg has a moderate maritime climate influenced by the warm Gulf Stream from the west. Because of this the climate of Duisburg is tempered. Winters are cool, extreme cold is uncommon. Summers are pleasantly warm without getting too hot. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year.

The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
