The climate of Mulheim an der Ruhr (Germany)
Mulheim an der Ruhr is a medium-sized city located in the western part of Germany in the vicinity of the Dutch border. The city is located in the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia on the banks of the Ruhr River. Since the beginning of the 19th century Mulheim has been a popular place for roundtrips on the Ruhr. This is not surprising since the Ruhr is most beautiful here. The banks of the Ruhr are lusciously green. During the 80 years’ war the battle of Mulheim took place here. During this battle the Dutch troops were defeated by the Spanish troops of Spinola. In 1946 the first Aldi supermarket opened its doors in Mulheim. Mulheim an der Ruhr has a moderate maritime climate. Despite its location in the interior the climate is still influenced by the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The warm Gulf Stream has a beneficial effect on the climate. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the coldest days of the year precipitation falls in the form of sleet or snow.
