The climate of Saarbrucken (Germany)
Saarbrucken is located in the federal state of Saarland of which it also is the capital. Saarbrucken is located on the banks of the Saar River which is a tributary of the Mosel River. Saarbrucken is located in the vicinity of the French border near the French city of Metz. Because of this Saarbrucken has many French characteristics. Saarbrucken Castle was built in several different styles making it a unique site. During the summer open air concerts are held in the gardens of the castle on a regular basis. The best places to go out are situated around St Johanner Market. Saarbrucken has a moderate maritime climate with mild winters and fairly cool summers. Saarbrucken gets 796 millimeters of annual precipitation and has an average annual temperature of 9 degrees Celsius (48 degrees Fahrenheit). August is the wettest month. From June till August average temperatures are 16.9 degrees Celsius (62 degrees Fahrenheit), this is also the warmest period. The coldest period is from December till February with an average temperature of 0.8 degrees Celsius (33 degrees Fahrenheit).
