The climate of Samos (Greece)
Samos is part of Greece’s North-Aegean islands and is situated in the Aegean Sea. The capital of Samos is Vathi, also known as Samos-City. Samos is a mountainous island. The highest peaks of the Aegean Sea are located here: Kerketefs Mountain and the mountain of Ampelos. The most popular places on Samos are Pythagorion and Kokkari. Ferries regularly sail to Turkey from here. Samos has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and wet and mild winters. During the summer temperatures are around 30 degrees Celsius. Heat waves with temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius are not uncommon. Whoever wants to travel to Samos in the beginning of the season (April-May) should bear in mind that temperatures are not as high as you would expect. This makes Samos unsuitable as a winter sun destination. Especially along the cold sea it may be cold. During the second half of May or the first half of June temperatures start to rise. Whoever wants to travel to Samos during autumn should bear in mind that heavy rain and increasing winds are not uncommon during this period as a result of the transition to winter.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
