The climate of Kyoto (Japan)
Kyoto has been the imperial residence and the capital of Japan for a long time. The Shogun’s former residence, the imperial buildings and many temples can still be admired in all their glory today. The Kinkakuji Temple is completely covered in gold. The Tofukuji Temple is a spectacular sight during autumn. The many Japanese Acers (tree species) give the surroundings a crimson color. Kyoto is known by most people because of the 2005 Kyoto treaty. With this treaty western countries try to call a halt to climate change to prevent the further decline of nature.
Kyoto has a warm sea climate. During the driest month Kyoto still gets 30mm of rain on average. Kyoto is quite humid all year round. Differences in temperature between the seasons are not too high.
