The climate of Nagano (Japan)
Nagano is a winter sports resort at high altitude centrally located in Japan. This area is also known as the Japanese Alps. This quiet provincial town is famous for the Zenkoji Temple and the Olympic winter games of 1998. The facilities used during the Olympics can still be admired and important skating competitions are still held here.
Because of the high altitude the weather is much colder here than in the rest of Japan. During the winter the slopes are covered in snow. Precipitation obviously falls in the form of snow. Temperatures obviously are strongly influenced by the high altitude. Even during the summer temperatures can be low on the summits.
