The climate of Malta
The island of Malta is situated south of Italy and has a Mediterranean climate. Malta’s climate is characterized by dry and warm summers and mild and wet winters. During the winter months fierce bleak winds are not uncommon. During the summer months precipitation is scarce and the wind abates. People who visit Malta during the summer describe its climate as warm, dry and arid. In the period from June till September nighttimes remain warm as well. Only after midnight do temperatures drop below 25 degrees Celsius.

However, in some years summer lasts till the end of October.

Scirocco
During the summer a sirocco may pick up. This is a desert wind that brings very warm air to Malta. This causes temperatures to rise to unpleasant levels. This current may last for days.
