The climate of Katwijk aan zee (the Netherlands)
Katwijk aan zee is a small village located on the North Sea in the Katwijk municipality in the province of South] Holland. The Katwijk municipality includes: Hoorne-Rijnsoever, Katwijk aan den Rijn, Rijnsburg and Valkenburg (South Holland). The village used to be known for its fishing harbour, nowadays it is a popular seaside resort. The ‘Vuurbaak’ of Katwijk aan Zee dates back to the 17th century and is one of the oldest lighthouses in the Netherlands. One of the most beautiful buildings is situated on the boulevard: the Andreas Church. Katwijk aan Zee has a moderate maritime climate strongly influenced by the North Sea. Because of this influence there is little difference in temperatures between the seasons. Longer periods with subzero temperatures (during the night) are uncommon. Precipitation is evenly spread out over the year.
