The climate of Veere (the Netherlands)
Veere is an old fortified city on Lake Veere located on the former island of Walcheren in the province of Zeeland. During medieval times Veere became a thriving city because Veere was the staple port for Scottish sheep wool. The old city center is a conservation area. The city is very popular as a stop-over during a trip on Lake Veere. Several cosy cafes and restaurants can be found here. One of the most beautiful buildings in Veere is the old town hall. Veere has a moderate maritime climate influenced by Lake Veere. This causes temperatures to be slightly higher during the winter and longer periods with subzero temperatures to occur less frequently. During the summer daytime temperatures are just above 20 degrees Celsius on average.
