The climate of the Veluwe (the Netherlands)
The Veluwe is a beautiful region in the province of Gelderland. The Veluwe is known for its beautiful scenery. Several National Parks, forests and moorlands can be found here. The Kröller-Müller museum is situated on the Veluwe. A modern art museum with a unique collection of paintings. Among them are paintings by Vincent van Gogh. The garden of sculptures is well worth walking through; many unique pieces of art can be admired here. The Royal palace ‘t Loo is also situated on the Veluwe, near Apeldoorn. The symmetrical Dutch Baroque building was designed by Jacob Roman and Johan van Swieten and was built between 1684 and 1686 for stadtholder-king William III and Mary II of England. The garden was designed by Claude Desgotz. Het Loo is not a palace but a "Lust-hof" (a retreat with so-called pleasure gardens). Nevertheless, it is situated entre cour et jardin ("between court and garden") as Versailles and its imitators. The Veluwe has a moderate maritime climate influenced by the sea. The records from the KNMI (Royal Dutch Meteorological Institue) state that the Veluwe has the highest precipitation figure in the Netherlands; which also explains the beautiful scenery.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
