The climate of Bluefields (Nicaragua)
Bluefields lies on the south-east coast of Nicaragua where the river Escondido flows into the Bluefieldsbay, which in turn flows into the Caribbean. Bluefields is the capital of the autonomous region Región Autonóma del Atlántico Sur (RAAS) in the east of Nicaragua. Bluefields is the largest and most important port in the east of Nicaragua on the eastcoast of the country. The town is not attainable by land, so one has to travel via the Escondido river or by plane from one of the bigger surrounding towns. The town is named after a Dutch pirate called Blauveldt.
Bluefields has a tropical rainforest climate with much precipitation during the entire year. The temperatures are very agreeable here throughout the year and the day- and night temperatures are not very much apart. However this implies that the air humidity is also equal day and night and that is not always pleasant.
The sea temperature here is agreeable and constant. In the second half of the year tropical storms and hurricanes may occur here.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
