The climate of Praia da Luz (Portugal)
Praia da Luz or Luz de Lagos is a popular tourist destination in the Algarve in the southern part of Portugal. Praia de Luz is located in the municipality of Lagos. This former fishing village is especially very popular among the English and people who stay here during the winter. The most important building in Praia da Luz is the Fortaleza. In 2007 the village became world famous when the 4 year old girl Madeleine McCann disappeared here.
Praia da Luz has a warm Mediterranean climate influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Because of this influence extremes in weather are uncommon. Summers are pleasantly warm with temperatures just below 30 degrees Celsius on average. Winters are too cold to make this place suitable as a winter sun destination.
