The climate of Vilamoura (Portugal)
Vilamoura is a seaside resort surrounding a marina and was founded in 1974. Nowadays it is one of the biggest tourist resorts in the Algarve. Whoever likes a beautiful and luxurious holiday destination should travel here. Vilamoura offers everything you need for a sun, sea and beach holiday. Vilamoura is also known as the golfing Mecca of Portugal because of the many golf resorts that can be found here.
Vilamoura has a warm Mediterranean climate which makes it ideal as a holiday destination all year round. Summers are warm but not too hot and winters are mild making this an ideal winter sun destination. However, during the winter temperatures are too low to go sunbathing on the beach. An ever blowing sea breeze offers some cooling along the coast. Because of the absence of this sea breeze temperatures may be a few degrees higher in the interior.
