The climate of Saint Denis (Réunion)
Saint Denis is the biggest town and capital in the Isle of Réunion. It lies on the north-coast of Réunion. Altogether this town, founded in 1669, counts approximately onehundred and fiftythousand inhabitants, which is about one fifth of the total number of inhabitants in the island. Saint Denis is the birth-place of Roland Garros, a French aircraft pioneer and war hero, after whom the international airport of Réunion has been named. Tennis lovers know the name from the Open French Tennis Championships, also named after him. The climate of Réunion is a tropical monsoon climate with hot wet summers and dry and fairly warm winters. Throughout the entire year the temperatures here are very agreeable and in the winter fluctuate from 21-22 degrees in the daytime to almost thirty degrees in the summermonths. The most agreeable months are September, October and November, when the temperature slowly rises a little and when there is the least precipitation of all months. There is also no chance of cyclones (hurricanes) in that period and the sun shines abundantly.
