The climate of Saint Leu (Réunion)
Saint Leu is a small but popular seaside-resort in the west of Réunion. Therefore in Saint Leu there are plenty of sights to be found such as the salt-pans of La Pointe-au-Sel. But most people come here for the many watersport activities that can be pursued here. Particularly deep-sea diving and sailing are very popular here. Saint Leu belongs tot the best surf-spots in the world and therefore world cup contests are regularly held here. Besides tourism this town particularly lives by agriculture. Just like the rest of Réunion, Saint Leu has a tropical monsoon climate with sunshine throughout the year. The cold season is from May to October. The warm season, from November till April, is the period in which the most hurricanes and rain-showers occur. Due to its sheltered situation behind a range of hills there is on an average less rainfall here than in the more eastern places.
