The climate of Bucharest (Romania)
Bucharest is the capital of Romania and is located in the southern part of the country on the Romanian Plain. The city is located where a mild Mediterranean climate changes into a cooler continental climate. The Black Sea only slightly influences the climate here. This is also why chances of extremes in weather such as low temperatures during the winter, heat during the summer and snowfall in the period from November till March are higher here than along the coast. Bucharest is among the 10 largest cities in Europe and used to be known as Small Paris because of the elegant though majestic buildings and the impressive wide streets and beautiful squares. However, nowadays Bucharest is mainly the economic and industrial center of the country.
