The climate of El Hierro (Canary Islands / Spain)
El Hierro is one of the Canary Islands. The volcanic island is very mountainous. Far fewer tourists visit this island than other islands in this Archipelago. The climate on El Hierro is characterized by the Canary Gulf Stream. The island is known for its foggy weather which sometimes swallows up entire villages. A constant sea breeze causes mild temperatures on the island. This is probably the reason why El Hierro is not that popular among sun worshippers. Most tourists travel to El Hierro for its peace and quiet and the pleasant climate. Please, bear in mind that it may be much cooler in the higher regions. Clear nights will also be much cooler than on other Canary Islands.
