The climate of Granada (Spain)
Granada is located in the southern part of Spain in the Andalusia region in the Granada province. It is an old city which was part of many kingdoms and rulers. Many remains of this can be found in the city, the Alhambra, the Generalife and the Albaicin are among them. All three of them are Unesco world heritage sites. However, more attractions can be found in the city such as several beautiful medieval monasteries, churches and the palace of Charles V. Just like the rest of this part of Spain Granada has a Mediterranean climate influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. Because the Sierra Nevada mountain range is in the vicinity (situated between Granada and the sea) large differences in temperatures between day and night are not uncommon. This is fairly uncommon for a climate type which is influenced by the sea. Both during summer and winter temperatures may drop during the night to rise again during the day. Winters in Granada are very cold by Spanish standards. Snow may even fall. The pleasant weather and the beautiful surroundings make Granada well worth visiting.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
