The climate of Jerez de la Frontera (Spain)
Jerez de la Frontera is a large city located in the southwestern part of Spain in the Cádiz province in the autonomous region of Andalusia. The city is known for its sherry. This fortified wine may only be called sherry when it is produced in the surroundings of Jerez de la Frontera. The name sherry is an anglicization of Jerez. This also means the city economically depends on sherry. However, tourism is increasing. Jerez de la Frontera has a moderate Mediterranean climate strongly influenced by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Because of these influences temperatures are slightly lower here than in the eastern part of Spain. During the summer average daytime temperatures are just below 30 degrees Celsius (86.0 degrees Fahrenheit). When a westerly wind blows cooler air is supplied from the Atlantic Ocean.
