The climate of Chiasso (Switzerland)
Chiasso is a city in the Swiss Ticino canton located near the border with Italy. The A2 motorway starts here which takes you to the St. Gotthard tunnel which takes you to the other side of the Alps. This is also the end station for SBB, the Swiss railroad network. From here the Italian railways will take you further. Chiasso is a typical border town that attracts many people with cheap petrol and cigarettes. Lake Como is in the vicinity on the other side of the border. Chiasso has a moderate continental climate with a small deviation; temperatures may rise above 22 degrees Celsius during summer. The Ticino canton gets the most sunshine in Switzerland; 2,300 hours of sunshine per year. In May and June heavy rain and hail storms may occur.
