The climate of Ikoma (Tanzania)
Ikoma is a permanent tented camp on the edge of the
Serengeti National
Park in the northern part of Tanzania. The tented camp is situated
between acacia trees and is one of the best places in the Serengeti to
experience the large migration. The wildebeest, zebras and gazelles as
good as pass by close to your tent. West of Ikoma the Kirawira River
and the Grumeti River are situated. Here crocodiles are waiting for
the migrating animals. Just like the rest of the Serengeti Ikoma has a
tropical savannah climate. The distinction between the wet and dry
period is not as clear here as in other places. The rainy period is
from November till April. Temperatures are pleasantly warm here all
year round without getting too hot. Nights are much cooler. During the
night a warm sweater is no unnecessary luxury.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
