The climate of Santa Cruz (California - United States of America)
Santa Cruz is located in the western part of California and is the capital of Santa Cruz County. Because of its location on the Bay of Monterey Santa Cruz is very popular among tourists. Because of its situation on this bay beautiful and quiet beaches with unique animal and plant life can be found here. This bay is even home to dolphins. Santa Cruz is very popular among surfers. Many important surfboard manufacturers have outlets here. The height of the waves are unique for this region.
Santa Cruz has a Mediterranean climate with cool and wet winters and warm and dry summers. Because of the presence of Monterey Bay fog occurs regularly during the night and early morning, especially during the summer. The highest temperature on record is 42 degrees Celsius (108 degrees Fahrenheit). The lowest temperature on record is -7 degrees Celsius (19.4 degrees Fahrenheit). Precipitation figures are highest from November till April. On average Santa Cruz gets 65 rainy days per year. Every now and then Santa Cruz gets hit by heavy storms causing heavy rain and fierce gusts of wind.
