Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and is located centrally in the
interior of the state. The city itself has a population figure of
100,000; the urban area has a population of more than 1 million.
According to the Köppen climate classification Boston has a warm
continental climate with warm to hot summers and cool winters. During
the winter subzero temperatures are not uncommon, especially during
the night. Boston has no distinct dry or wet period. Precipitation is
quite evenly spread out over the year. However, occasionally large
