The climate of Australian Capital Territory (Australia)
The Australian Capital Territory (A.C.T.) owes its existence to the
rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne. Both of these cities were
eligible to claim the title of capital. When they couldn’t come to an
agreement Canberra was founded as a solution. The capital and the area
around it were named the Australian Capital Territory. The city state
of A.C.T. is an enclave of New South Wales. It is situated between
Melbourne and Sydney. The capital of this area is Canberra, which also
is Australia’s capital. The area around Canberra mainly consists of
national parks. Namadgi National Park is the most famous one. The
landscape consists mainly of bush. In the Australian Capital Territory
many typical Australian animals can be spotted. Such as Kangaroos,
Koalas and Emus. A.C.T. has a moderate sea climate. Winters are mild
with temperatures that hardly go below 17 degrees Celsius. During the
summer temperatures are 25 degrees Celsius on average.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
