The climate of Oberösterreich (Austria) Oberösterreich or Upper Austria is a federal state in Austria
bordering Germany and the Czech Republic. The region is situated
between the Bohemian forest and Dachstein. Wels and Linz are well
known cities within this region. Oberösterreich has a maritime and a
continental climate. Because of the large differences in landscape the
climate varies. The driest areas can be found in the Muhlviertel in
Eferdinger Becken in the east. Beautiful castles and monasteries can
be visited here. The Kalkalpen Nature Reserve is well worth visiting.
During the winter this region is very popular among winter sports
enthusiasts. Oberösterreich has a continental climate with cold and
reasonable dry winters and pleasant but very wet summers. Please, bear
in mind that the skiing tracks are at a higher altitude where it may
be much colder.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
