The climate of Bastogne (Belgium)
The city of Bastogne is located in the center of the Ardennes at an
altitude of about 500 meters. Bastogne is an excellent starting point
to discover the Ardennes. A large WWII museum can be found here. At
the end of the war intensive fighting took place here in the Battle of
the Bulge. In and around the city many remains are still a silent
witness to this period. Because of its altitude it may be a little
colder here than in the valley; this is favourable for the snow during
the winter. Several cross country ski tracks can be found in the
vicinity. Just like in the rest of the Ardennes there is more rainfall
here than in the rest of Belgium. Bastogne is also the turning point
for the largest Flemish cyclist racing classic: Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
