The climate of Courtray (Belgium)
Courtray or Kortrijk is a city in West-Flanders on the banks of the river Leie and
close to the French border. The most important day in Courtray’s
history is probably 11 July 1302 when the Battle of the Golden Spurs
took place. This date is still a national holiday. Several buildings
can be found in Courtray that are a witness to the rich history of
Courtray. The Gothic city hall, the Belfry and the Broel Towers along
the river Leie are just a few examples. Modern architecture can also
be found in Courtray. Courtray has a moderate rainy climate with
rainfall evenly spread out over the year. The westerly and south
westerly winds have less influence on the climate here because of the
Atlantic Gulf Stream.
