The climate of De Haan (Belgium)
De Haan is a popular seaside resort on the Flemish coast situated
between Knokke and Ostend. The French call this place “Le Coq” which
literally means De Haan (in English The Rooster). De Haan has the
longest beach of Flanders; it is an ideal destination for a holiday
with sun, sea and recreation. Pleasant walks can be taken along the
beach. Three Nature Reserves can be found in the vicinity; one of them
in the dunes. You can also discover the surroundings by bicycle.
Beautiful spacious meadows and polders. In one of the small villages
you can get refreshments on the terraces. The beach is ideal for
building sand castles and enjoying the sunshine. De Haan has a
moderate maritime climate influenced by the warm Gulf Stream from the
Atlantic Ocean. Because of the Gulf Stream the coast is less
influenced by heavy winds from the west and south west. The least
amount of rain falls during spring. However, this doesn’t necessarily
mean it will be completely dry during your stay.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
