The climate of Thunder Bay (Canada)
Thunder Bay was formed through the merger of Fort William and Port
Arthur. The city owes its name to a referendum in which the citizens
could choose the name of their city. The climate of Thunder Bay is
influenced by Lake Superior. Because of the influence of the water
summers are colder and winters are warmer than in other places.
Temperatures are between -14 and 17 degrees Celsius on average. When
there is a fierce wind temperatures may drop, especially when a cold
current comes from the polar region. Thunder Bay is a sunny city with
about 2,100 hours of sunshine per year, most of which occur during
summer.
